Myaka River State Park / Oscar Scherer State Park
Both are beautiful, but you can't escape road noise in OSSP
Water lillies in the Myaka River. This is the widest spot in the river in the park. Maybe anywhere in the river.
gator.jpg  If there's water in Florida there's almost always gators. And hidden among the lillies is this one. Some of the gators in the park have been there for decades and the park rangers have nick names for them. A few years ago poachers killed several of the largest ones in the park.
cacti.jpg And here on one of the trails is cactus. Seems incongrous, but there it is. Myaka River State Park, at 37,000 acres has so much diverse plant and wildlife it's hard to take it all in if you only have one day.
